One of my favorite car stories: Bertha Benz, the woman who taught us to drive! Think about it often when I'm taking the ol Benz out for a spin!

This reminds me of the story of Bertha Benz. She and her husband, Karl, invented the Benz automobile. She is known as "the woman who taught us to drive". She made the first long distance automobile journey, driving her son's from Mannheim to Pforzheim, Germany and back in 1888 (without her husband's knowledge, as he sat hand-wringing in the shop, obsessing over the design). She proved what the automobile was capable of! She also learned some things that led her to inventing a few things (several of which along the way!) 1. A network of fuel stations 2. Replaceable Brake lining 3. Lower gear ratios for hills She made so many insights by just using the thing and realizing what people would need to make it work as a part of their lives. We have to be constantly pushing ourselves to be like Bertha and learn to prioritize studying actual use cases and defining our requirements to meet user needs. Otherwise the users will make compromises they don't understand the consequences of, and that's on us!

Devs: people only use mobile Also devs: we only prioritize building for mobile (Man is it fun to exist in an ecosystem where we can shit talk with our devs šŸ¤£) ((I get that the trade-offs are probably well addressed with the roadmap of priorities, but I can't help myself))

Very important topics to think deeply on. The part about how the loud voices often drown out those actually doing the work is very apt for this ecosystem. With access to the internet and now AI tools... the ability to portray oneself as an 'expert' in something has a lower barrier than ever before.

Top 1% of knowledge seems a bit elitist imo. Top 10% of knowledge is honestly pretty damn interesting for most niche topics. Even top 20% is pretty impressive. Setting the bar too high is also a deterrent. We don't need the smartest ppl here, just smart enough ppl willing to put in the time to make quality content.

The web3 Identity crisis is real. Which is interesting considering web3 seems tailor-made for solving this problem as well! https://warpcast.com/nonlinear.eth/0x7763a1e8

Ok @vinayvasanji.eth , or maybe have to pull in @jango.eth ... Studying /revnet Am I reading this right: any project that uses revnet has to pay a 3% tax, indefinitely, as a loan servicing fee, essentially?

I wish that you could just load up a starter pack as a custom feed. @alvesjtiago.eth this would be a cool feature for @fiids maybe! There's already a "starter pack discovery" problem, so maybe if there was some combined elements of discovering new starter packs and being able to just load them up quickly as a dedicated feed. Less of a commitment than following a ton of ppl who you have no idea what they post. Then you can follow individuals as you get to know them from the starter feed.

It's a finely nuanced point here, and I have no specific knowledge about Puerto Rico or this incident. I don't think it's probably fair to reduce it to such blanket statements, however. All of your statements assume: - politics and governments are actually fair - the externalities and impacts of decisions are clearly vetted - local minority groups are properly represented and have agency in policy decisions at this scale I think it's reasonable to say that the way the people who were actually involved felt about what they were doing is more reflective of cultural best interests than statements that make such unlikely assumptions. I also think that people are slow to embrace change, so there's value in examining the perspective dichotomy of immigration vs gentrification, so I appreciate the push back here, even if I think it exaggerates just a little.

There are so many insanely smart ppl in this ecosystem. I'm eternally grateful for this cozy corner where anyone can get simplified answers to confusing data-fueled questions within minutes of asking.

Anyone have insights to share on this phenomena? tx fees collected on L2's shows Base significantly topping the charts. L1 gas fees, however, shows Base riding a very low and steady 'baseline'... What's the story here? Or what am I not seeing that explains this? How is Base so much more (and consistently) efficient at rolling up on mainnet?

We busted out channel notifs, are frames next? If we want this to be a "people talking to people" app, then there needs to be space to prioritize activity from ppl, not bots and frames. Or maybe just let ppl have control over their own "priorities" in an easier way?

All the folks posting about how much they exercise got me excited to hit the gym. Today's workout: Installing a woodchip path. First up was a grape hoe warmup. About 1.5 hours of methodically chopping the grass out for the path really gets the shoulders and core warmed up.

The stage of AI I'm least looking forward to is when it evolves to mimic the just-about-to-emerge trend of turning off autocowrect and embracing little mostakes as proof of humanity.

Just throwing this out for you slow-heads: Found a new channel for slowing down and taking the time to think about how we can reframe the disconnected discourse happening in this modern world and go a little deeper with the way we look at the topics in front of us! Seems like a good opportunity for cross-pollination of like-minded communities!
