I think bringing in people with other interests can be good to help spark new ideas and also balance out the accounts that only live to collect the rewards.
I set my Token to 90% to fans. I sold my bottom performing FTs and locked the rest. 
Now I just go about my normal business here. I moderate on 2 channels besides my own art and projects.
Naturally I give Moxie as rewards plus in my weekly contests via hypersub. 
So you get real content with the rewards and its less stressful for me to simplify it.
