We're changing it up on /lounge Day 7 😈 Here's the Startup Scenario: "You were absolutely STOKED to launch a new feature that improved your core product, but it didn't get nearly as much traction as you expected it to get on launch day. You still believe in it, but are less sure now. What do you do next?"

For me, I try to do 3 things quickly: - Reassess if it ACTUALLY 10X's utility for users - Try to understand if there's a top of funnel issue (did people see it, was there a holiday/big news day, launch timing, etc) - Was the new value communicated simply + clearly + visually? If yes -> move on If no -> rapid relaunch

monitor it over the next two weeks (hopefully you've got some kind of analytics for it) and see how it's used, demographic of said users and whether it's being used as intended (or designed) which will form the basis of any further work most things take a while to start going, then the inertia takes over

1. Check the data to see where in the funnel the bottleneck is 2. Go talk with the user to find out what's happening Emotion, especially on day 1, shouldn't really matter. It's just that we have more data compared to before launch.

1. ask people if they know about the feature 2. ask them if they're using it. if no, why? what's the barrier or lack of interest that I missed?

Stick with it.. Continue with my earlier objective but run a surgery and try to figure out why I didn't get my traction..... Most importantly, wear the customers shoes

Start talking to my customers and see why they didn't like it, then compare that to other features that I have more positive feedback from my customers on. At that point it's a judgement call on whether or not I want to delay something my customers want for something that *I* want. Sometimes, that IS the right call.

launch day is one day. it may actually be better that it catches on organically and allows time to receive feedback and make minor adjustments before catching on fully. if you believe in it, don't compromise that for one day's data.

Don't let the initial response bring you down. Gather feedback, tweak the feature, plan a solid re-launch strategy, and amp up your marketing game. Remember, setbacks are just setups for comebacks! Keep the faith and keep pushing forward! You've got this! 🚀💪

Launching a new feature and not getting the expected traction can be disheartening, but it’s also an opportunity for growth and learning.
