🧵1/2 Just opened bsky for the first time since July 2023 to see what’s happening there. My initial findings👇 Looks great and feels like old Twitter. Personal algo curation seems to be at the forefront of the experience. They have “Feeds,” which are similar to Channels on WC but a lot more content-focused and moderated/curated. Not everyone can post to a feed (some are driven by hashtags others by application) but anyone can read them. Making a Feed is a convoluted 10-step process though. If you don’t follow people you basically don’t see any content (hence Feeds for discovery). If you don’t get engagement your content won’t be seen. No bookmark feature. They have lists (same as Twitter) to further curate what you see. NSFW filtration as well as specific personal content moderation. Seems like there are some composable dev tools but nothing like the LEGOs Farcaster provides.

1/2 🧵 Commenting on this as someone who's still trying to build an audience here but these are my observations 👇 There's really no straightforward path. The large channels actually impose low visibility on smaller accounts because unless you get engagement, the casts stay in the "recent" section. It's easier to cut through the smaller channels but there are also fewer people so exposure is limited. Narrowcasting to niche channels (not crypto-specific ones necessarily) def seems to have an impact if the channel is active. Visibility (even among your followers) is related to whether they like/comment on your posts. So you need to be actively engaged with everyone. To some extent the social graph (i.e., large accounts interacting with yours) has an impact but not as much as you might think. The cycle you want to break into appears to look like this:
