New channel model has me thinking about when conflict happens: v1 (hide, warn, ban): direct conflict over content, after the fact. "mods are hiding all my posts!" v2 (curate): indirect conflict, sometimes long after the fact. "mods are shadowbanning me, why isn't my post in main?!" v3 (membership): direct conflict before and after. "mods won't let me in!" and "mods kicked me!" v2 was alluring because it seemed to reduce conflict, but I think there is something like a conservation law of moderation here: you can move it around, but it will always happen somewhere.

Reddit-like curation with upvotes and downvotes looks like common sense solution for channels, why isn't farcaster team employing crowdsourced curation like that?

I'm not talking about possible solutions. More about the problem which is centralised curation of content, that's inevitably bumps into a bottleneck. If users themselves curate the content it not only removes the bottleneck, but also creates a feeling of belongingness and fair rules for everyone

you could still have an open channel by pinning the link or a frame. but also no main feed now so its less about curating casts than curating users
