The last time I asked this question it came to 50/50 with 400 votes: Is a hot dog ๐ŸŒญ a sandwich ๐Ÿฅช? Bonus points: Is a taco ๐ŸŒฎ a sandwich ๐Ÿฅช (this one is for the replies) https://frame.vote/wbbJA1DF

Even if it is within some strict definition, no one will find it normal to be handed a hotdog or a taco when they ask for a sandwich. Same for tomatoes which no one eats as if itโ€™s a fruit. I think how something is used or consumed trumps the literal definition here.

This is a useful way to think about it, and definitely agree that functional usage trumps formal definitions
