Similarly, when a friend compliments themselves, whether it’s their appearance or something they’re proud of, it’s not the time to respond with, “It’s not just you; I look good too,” or, “You’re not the only one who’s beautiful.” 

It’s not a competition. Let them feel good about themselves without shifting the focus back to you.
