Wild watching people cheer on the NYPD shutting down my old neighborhood and school to capture some student protestors.

What do you think would be a better course of action given the current situation?

Don’t lock down the entire campus, don’t lock out and threaten to arrest journalists, don’t send 100s of cops. My galaxy brain idea would’ve been to just offer Pass Fail finals to anyone who doesn’t protest. Many wouldn’t protest and disruption minimized.

Protest is not even that disruptive, Columbia campus is huge and people hang out on the lawn at end of semester anyway.

Unfortunately I think it’s escalated beyond hanging out on the lawn The university can’t just allow groups of protestors to break into buildings and barricade themselves inside

Oh no they took over a tiny building barely anyone uses on a huge campus. Better send in hundreds of police with a history of violence to increase safety. Better not let any press film it.
