Curious if Farcaster could ever support private profiles viewable to accepted followers only (like X, IG, etc.), either for Warpcast or other clients, or if the nature of decentralized social and content being available in hubs and accessible by anyone means that's not technically possible (in near term/current architecture)

Theoretically could be done by encrypting any private casts (and then accepted followers would have a key to decrypt, would need to figure out how to share between clients)

The casts would still be in the protocol and could show up on other clients but would just look like gibberish so they'd likely want to filter them out

It will be interesting to see how the Merkle team implements direct casts in the protocol which I believe will be E2EE and would likely provide a blueprint for how to make private casts work as well
