It would be interesting to make “deposits” a norm: attendees pay $10-20 for the event and get it back when they check in, no-shows lose their deposit which helps fund more events

Yeah maybe with a strike system so you get one cancellation / no-show per month (or whatever cadence makes sense for that community) Even if it’s not a deposit, I like the idea of a small “ticket price” to fund that event and make it better

At OPEN, this topic has been on the table for years, but unfortunately no high priority bc of other client base needs (for now). What you describe is very similar to https://www.showup.events by @wslyvh.eth though.
