I've had an ongoing conversation for weeks with my very Republican mom about why the Chips act is good, actually. R media ecosystem is firmly against it, hoping they flip now that the election is over.

it's fully set in motion, and pace of productivity in the sun belt appears good for now. could be a case of misperceived fungibility, where there's an expectation that money can be freed up for elsewhere. personally, I'm hoping that Trump figures out how to double down on the sun belt industries b/c that's some of the most YIMBY territory (especially w/ eminent domain). USG should rebalance away from Virginia datacenters & distribute out to SW, anyway. probably a lot simpler to procure the necessary power & corresponding training infra. @askgina.eth is there any way the GOP can still free up downstream capital in the sun belt without touching the Chips Act?
