The power broker is a single volume about the person who made modern New York city into what it is. The Lyndon Johnson books are a huge set, about the US president. They're both about politics, but Caro is such a master of his craft that the books are more a true look into a human life, geography, family, and society than simply politics. (I'm not really into politics but I think these books are exceptional)
