Mavs really traded Luka when they could have just put him on Ozempic

why did the mavs actually trade luka? they seem so much less likely to win now?

They traded him to get a player (Davis) who can play under the rim (center/power forward), who's much better defender, while not being that much worse in offense.

On the other hand, Luka is 25 while Davis is 31. Luka is a natural leader with a winning mentality who gets better in playoffs. Davis is not a leader (he showed that in LA).

Nico Harrison (Mavs GM) thought they have enough good players on the backcourt (Kyrie, not sure who else), and that they need a good rim protector such as Davis to win the championship this year. 

Personally I think it's a mistake, but time will tell. It's a short term move. Long term it's definitely a mistake.
