Never have I been so happy to be rejected.

My son is 2 years and 3 months. Not a big talker, though it's coming bit by bit.

Yesterday:
Me: "You want to get into the shower?"
Him: (starting to get worked up and whine/moan/cry)
Me: "What do you say?"
Him: (calms and focuses) "Papa, No." (first time!)
Me: "You got it!"

3 months later, my 2.5yo son says "Papa, no" so often that it's become a game.

"Do you want some cheese?"
"Papa, No"
"Do you want some watermelon?"
"Papa, No"
"Do you want to go for a walk?"
"Papa, No"
"Do you want to go for a ride?"
"Papa, No"

"Do you want to keep saying "No"?"
...
*2yo glares at me knowingly*

honestly, before he could say no he would just immediately cry instead. Talking at all is a big improvement and helps him manage his emotions :)

I think by the time he's three, he'll stop saying No!!

Your son is a bit like my daughter and a bit of a handful.
But when he gets a little older, he will be a strong and reliable child!!

My daughter is cute and all, but she irritates me just as much😂😂

I feel odd “liking” this. Not sure if I should be congratulating you on the evolving dialogue or sad to be rejected that often when all you want to do is love him with activities and food. 🫠

My kids are grown now but I remember this phase! 
It was the most precious moments of my life.
They know only what you teach them.
So they ask “why” tell them why! 
Feed their curiosity and knowledge!
