The experience of a new Farcaster user who's also new to web3 is very different from 1) those already in web3 and 2) FC OGs. Think of FC as a "community of practice", a "group of people who share a common concern, a set of problems, or an interest in a topic and who come together to fulfill both individual and group goals." Visualize FC as a set of concentric circles. At the core are the OG FC users, then degen royalty and onwards. It's you're new to web3 when you first join, you probably exist of the periphery of the outermost circle. You don't know the culture. You don't know the vocab (mint, attestation, Base, onchain, etc.). Degen and Base seem equally big. You don't know one user with a lot of followers from another. You certainly don't know what's up with all of the emojis in people's usernames. But you want to move closer to the center, so you try to adopt the culture of the people you see most frequently. You see some people (who you later learn are farming engagement en masse) interacting in these gimmicky ways, and you think that's the culture. It's kinda fun, so you participate, thinking you finally have a beat on the culture. But as you get to know it better, you realize that what you mistook as the core FC experience was actually the 8th out of 10 concentric circles. You're still really far from the center. And the center doesn't really like the culture of the 8th circle out. So hopefully you haven't burnt bridged or been labeled as spam, but you adjust and change how you interact. This was my experience. Maybe a little bit of @itslemon.eth's as well. https://warpcast.com/itslemon.eth/0x2a62a833

I still don't intuit the OG FC culture, but I'm cool with whatever part of FC I'm in right now. It's a builder's paradise. I'm here for that, /running, /parenting, and for the wonderful people I've met.

Thank you for this post. This is almost exactly my way too. You come, you learn and you probably grow to another level. But it's kind of frustrating when you're getting penalized and pushed back along your way. Some onboarding set of rules or advice might probably help here.
