The experience of a new Farcaster user who's also new to web3 is very different from 1) those already in web3 and 2) FC OGs.
Think of FC as a "community of practice", a "group of people who share a common concern, a set of problems, or an interest in a topic and who come together to fulfill both individual and group goals."
Visualize FC as a set of concentric circles. At the core are the OG FC users, then degen royalty and onwards.
It's you're new to web3 when you first join, you probably exist of the periphery of the outermost circle.
You don't know the culture.
You don't know the vocab (mint, attestation, Base, onchain, etc.). Degen and Base seem equally big. You don't know one user with a lot of followers from another.
You certainly don't know what's up with all of the emojis in people's usernames.
But you want to move closer to the center, so you try to adopt the culture of the people you see most frequently.
You copy those who interact with you. These people have username emoji.
