but would the powers-at-be like to solve all the world's problems? that's the more important, and scarier, question to look at.

I think decriminalisation and legalisation of psychedelics will have a far larger impact than cannabis would, but hoping both happen :-)

definitely, and it's more likely "poorer states" are the ones that would get to make the most $. i think the mismatch at this point is the lawyers (legislators) and bankers (taxman and wallstreet) aren't talking and so don't understand the opportunity, and DEA made it clear they hold the final key.

I agree with the condition that it's as long as the states use the tax collected in a responsible manner if that's the case. I supported the last louisiana marijuana bill because it was really good on the permissions side, but the tax side to it was absolutely trash

First part, it’s fucking egregiously expensive to start a cannabis business in several states and existing legislation has left tens of thousands of folk unjustly jailed. If it was legalized, there should be a minimum pardon of inmates jailed due to cannabis.
