I think you’d find Heidegger’s theory of equipment useful for thinking about this

I think a fun argument is why this is the case Are algorithms relentlessly curating our world? Or are individuals just choosing the things they like which proliferates into standards? Or maybe another third thing

I do save ones that sound interesting, I’ll save them in a Notion database to be read later when I am killing time Long form regular basis: Personal blogs, Substack, misc PDFs I download

One of the failures of AI eBook tools is that they focus on summaries and outlines which misunderstands why we read. Surprisingly, reader's enjoy reading We need to build for inline context and tight question/answer loops to continue reading, not to get bogged down in another rabbit hole

I would be more inclined to use this as a writer rather than a reader. I like sharing sources and possibly disseminating information but also, I am naturally inclined to query directly to the AI provider

Somewhat like creating little NotebookLM that you can disseminate to others which is great. It gives nice insight into the author's perspective and what informed them I like it as a new tool for writing platforms to create more interactive sources

Yeah I was able to play around with it this morning! It has some good ideas like: - Sample questions + picking up on good contextual questions - Listing sources for further queries - Linking sources to specific parts of the essay But also, I think the UX misses on some things like: - The chat window is perma-open and sits at the document/HTML level. It feels like it should open at some highlighted sentence or paragraph that I trigger and then disappear

Currently, we mostly just catch low brow criminals through current BSA systems Larger schemes are so much harder to capture because of information overload and lack of access to key data by the government

How deep do you want to go and what do you want to understand? Securities markets infrastructure? Focus on microstructures? The different actors in the market? History of this stuff?

Notion has been the best for me, mostly because of their database features But having played around with Obsidian a bit, that is another great option

My pet theory I roughly believe that Jack Welch created an adverse network effect by cutting costs (mostly labor) which raised his stock price. When other CEOs followed, we “reset” to a new norm in labor costs (particularly wages) as a % of their financial statements
