diving into luna's tiktok growth. anyone know how she got "500k followers" on there? doesn't feel like there's high quality engagement based on the comments there.

Wouldn't be surprised if they're buying followers It's a common dark pattern for web2 social products that works until it doesn't

What's more interesting to me is that fact that they (might have) bought followers on a social product that doesn't really care about follower count TikTok's algo leans heavily on time spent watching a video + engagement on that video So I'm guessing the followers are for "legitimacy" when/if people click thru, assuming they spend <1sec on the profile before clicking link in bio

yeah it’s a good point. it’s just that it’s funny because every single tweet and article mens luna as a TikTok star with 500k followers. They probably did that intentionally to get credibility
