Most people already know what they want and are looking for someone else to validate that that's "the right choice" :)

there is value in acknowledging that desire. i imagine if people have to explicitly acknowledge “i am asking you but what i’m actually looking for is just for you to justify my made decisions”, they would end up a lot more open to constructive feedback it just takes a lot of self-awareness to self-check against this
