what is it that we're early to?

We’re early for the law understanding how to treat distributed ledger technology. Our current legal frameworks (e.g. about money, privacy, IP, agency and finance) all make assumptions we didn’t use to have to think about. DLT is making us examine those assumptions, and it’s early days in that sphere.
