I remember hearing a while back that Ukraine was giving Russia a hard time in the war. But now, I'm seeing stuff that says Russia is easy winning the war. Is that true?

- Ukraine dominates in Black Sea + targeting ru refineries - russia indeed slowly grinding on the frontline, not something strategic yet, mainly coz Ukraine lacks ammunition due to US domestic politics - this seems to pressure Europe to activate their efforts, realising US might not help if russia invades Europe

Looks close to a stalemate now with the front line barely moving for over a year. Fog of war makes it difficult to ascertain what is happening for me and media coverage is heavily biased on both sides.

Russia sacrificed thousands of men to get control of a small village (with fee thousands population before the war). Also, Russia is using most of its industrial power to produce weapons.

I don’t know that Russia is “easy winning the war” but the prevailing narrative is that Ukraine forces are now on the back foot due to a relative scarcity of soldiers, weapons, & ammunition. This BBC article puts Russian forces’ latest advance into perspective; the territorial gains are tangible but also small

Basically Ukraine’s summer offensive failed spectacularly (the media narrative that it would drive Russia from Crimea), as a result Russia has momentum, I don’t know if “easy” is the right term though.
