The surgeon general issued an advisory on parentsβ mental health. Parenting is now in the same category as cigarettes regarding public health risks. The cause? βthe expectation that they spend ever more time and money educating and enriching their children. These pressures, researchers say, are driven in part by fears about the modern-day economy β that if parents donβt equip their children with every possible advantage, their children could fail to achieve a secure, middle-class life.β @coachcoale and I happened to be talking about this just today on a zoom As a parent of teenagers Iβm playing a different game than most of my peers. While they hire tutors and focus all their energy on getting into the best college, Iβm focused on building independence, resilience, and a love of learning. Itβs less stressful this way. Omggggg you just gave me a panic attack @adrienne π³ Iβm kept up at night wondering if my kids 529 will be enough by the time heβs ready to go to school in 14 years. My reasonably well informed estimate ~ $200K a year. https://www.perplexity.ai/search/whats-the-estimated-tuition-of-3MzKqgDkQ1e9OZFCbWGZ.g
