There is a vibrancy around culture that has pretty much evaporated with people being so glued to their screens. Watching kids on dates is super depressing. Feels like sparks have become desaturated and replaced by pro ballistic algorithms for matching outcomes. Would be cool if a town, city, or country observed a national day of rest to touch grass and turn the screens off. I feel like that would do tremendous things for everybody’s overall well-being. For those who are terminally online, be off-line a couple of days.

Went to onsen with my girlfriend recently and left our phones at home. Afterwards had dinner without going home first for reasons, so had dinner without phones. I kind of forgot what it was like. The next booth over, the entire family was on their phones.

My favorite thing about Japan was that the servers would leave you alone unless you’d press the little silent button and then they would come and be super attentive
