Quick tip: Network searches no longer auto trigger, but only trigger when you tap search or enter (on mobile + desktop, respectively) Searchable profiles are beginning to push past 1m users and the searchable fields are increasing to 20+, so this change helps ensure that highly relevant results are returned only when you’re ready for them.

It was triggering unnecessary searches, yes, but mostly it was bogging down the UX because we were triggering searches too much, which was interrupting the text entry. We played around with changing the debounce settings (e.g., trigger after 0.5s inactivity) but it was always too slow or too fast, and individual preferences differ. We could've decoupled the settings but that would've been more complicated, so we decided to just make it an explicit choice when the user is ready instead.
