It is easier to make a mess in the digital world than in the physical world, and harder to clean it up. So many accounts and subscriptions and now wallets, etc.. In the physical world you can just pick things up and throw them out. In the digital world you have to find it all first and it’s free to create so there’s more of it and there’s no uniform way to just throw it all out. So people operating heavily in the digital world become accidental hoarders and their digital worlds just get super cluttered. Fortunately there is way more space than a 3 bedroom house but still it doesn’t feel great to operate in a cluttered space. You can try to clean it out systematically and periodically but for the reasons I’ve described it’s just more difficult to keep a clean digital house than a physical one. Maybe we just need a digital Marie Kondo. Her main book is actually great and I’m a fan of hers. The whole thing about your socks having a spirit or whatever is a little much for me but 80% of it I like.

Unfortunately, I haven't read this book, but I totally agree with you about digital clutter.
