I wonder if there is a standard measurement for “lushness” of a city. Something like the ratio of acres of concrete/steel/glass to the acres of grass/water/dirt

Maybe a better measurement is total linear contact between the two categories. Think - homogenized mixture (yards in front of every house) vs lumpy mixture (one big park in the middle) Is lushness an optimization of points of contact instead of ratio?

i asked a couple friends who might know. where i live (residential area south of downtown austin) i can only have so much of my lot area covered by structures or concrete (any non-permeable surface, really). i wonder how that's managed in the more urban areas? they may just rely totally on the storm drainage systems 🤔
