A consumer crypto app is one which requires no prior knowledge of crypto to use immediately. Good examples of consumer crypto apps are Coinbase and Farcaster.

Also, by this definition, most self-custodial wallet apps are not consumer crypto apps, because they require prior crypto knowledge to use immediately.

Because "consumer" means "for personal, consumptive use" - i.e., not compelled by their job or other obligation; voluntary. If an app requires prior crypto knowledge to immediately use, the number of consumers who onboard will be an order of magnitude smaller due to the experienced friction and the lack of obligation.

with that definition, what would take Uniswap to become a consumer app without prior knowledge of crypto? 

some options:

- embedded wallet 
- on/off ramp
- new UX

I'd go as far as saying that crypto should be completely abstracted from a consumer app.. users should not get a knowledge of crypto, only of what crypto enables

dex screener and tg bots are consumer crypto apps, so is uniswap, & magic eden

there is a market to create apps for beginners but “consumer crypto” is not explicitly for “people who know nothing”
