I love Mitt Romney, but he is utterly wrong.

Human ethics do not apply to state actors. We accept this the moment we grant a monopoly on violence to the state.

Morality cannot be the rubric we apply to political leaders. It is dangerous to do so.

The relevant lens is the national interest.

Sounds like you disagree with him, insofar as your reason for not voting for Trump would be policy, not character

I usually don’t agree with Mitt
And I would probably say that his brand of the GOP did just as much damage as the modern brand but with fewer weirdos

But I would say that whatever his moral justification is I agree with him

For me it comes down to policy
The right has had almost zero coherent polity for years now

To be fair - Romney doesn’t say anything about morality - the tweeter does. Romney talks about Character. I think character is part and parcel of why you might trust someone to run a country. Trump stiffs workers, lies constantly, and looks out for himself above all else. Not a character you want to trust running anything, much less a country.
