I love Mitt Romney, but he is utterly wrong.

Human ethics do not apply to state actors. We accept this the moment we grant a monopoly on violence to the state.

Morality cannot be the rubric we apply to political leaders. It is dangerous to do so.

The relevant lens is the national interest.

To be fair - Romney doesn’t say anything about morality - the tweeter does. Romney talks about Character. I think character is part and parcel of why you might trust someone to run a country. Trump stiffs workers, lies constantly, and looks out for himself above all else. Not a character you want to trust running anything, much less a country.
