Sol is a great execution layer, makes zero sense as a settlement layer running on bare-metal nodes rented at datacenters

Excited for innovation the SVM will bring to Ethereum L2s like Eclipse next year.

So the argument is, because validation on Solana requires large amounts of compute, the entry requirements are too high for credible neutrality?

Beyond just the node requirement (although that's a big one)

A culture of refining towards making the base layer as censorship-resistant as possible

Agreed on the first part. The second part is pretty nebulous to me. As we’ve seen, many ETH validators are subject to OFAC

Validators nor miners are subjected to OFAC, afaik. Some relayers are only passing OFAC-compliant blocks to validators, but this is less than 35% of total blocks built by Ethereum
