I'm okay with small and startup communities using them, I would not want the upper echelons of mainstream society to be gatekept by them?

this is for a higher education school though. I don’t think you’d get this level of granular questions at even the most conservative niche Christian schools, for example. that’s why it more resembles a cult, that’s the kind of place questions like ‘what are your thoughts on tattoos or drinking alcohol’ would be apt

Yeah I agree it's a new form factor that combines some elements of school and some elements of cult. I don't think that's necessarily bad, especially since global cultural homogenization is a top-10 concern and it's good to have some forces pushing in the other direction, and the school aspect makes it more likely that we get a high-quality cult.

Specifically this feels so small, petty and Current Thing coded. Greta? Jordan Peterson? Why are say, a 10x coder's opinions on them relevant to admission. Has a chilling effect no? If I choose wrong or am honest I'm not allowed admission. Perhaps that's my inner neolib projecting, that new things, specifically the Network School or State (ideas I find interesting) can and should have a plurality of thought and ideas but this kind of rhetoric doesn't inspire confidence:

It looks more like it’s increasing the chances of having a low-quality cult tbh, because it will be mostly people sharing the same algo bubble brain-rot
