we need to see more independent musicians thrive in web3. the music industry screams for new ways of monetization, but nothing truly groundbreaking has happened in the past years. that's something i think about often, and i'm still yet to find the answers for what can be done about it.

The real issue is that thereβs no solid web3 protocol musicians can truly rely on yet. Even as a music fan, thereβs no web3 platform that keeps pulling me in. Everyone seems to either pivot or shut down. I also feel like the blockchain guarantees arenβt well understood. Is my song really going to stay available on IPFS or Arweave like they promise? Am I just taking their word for it, or is there actually a way for me to verify this myself?

yet the web3 is not even ready for decentralized music platform, because there is sound.xyz which bans accounts from sanctioned countries (like mine). Sadly, reels/tiktok/youtube + web2 platforms seems like the best way for me to promote myself still and monetize some pennies

One of my best friends irl is pretty talented at producing beats, it would be very cool to be able to tell him he could thrive here if there was a program designed for musicians to take part in this community.

We need a real product to connect listeners with music creators. Spotify is music product #1 for daily users but it barely pays to creators. At least YouTube has more decent monetization mechanisms. Also, I haven't seen a product that solves IRL music events, ticket sales, collectables and fan interaction.
