I told myself for throughout my 20s that I didn't want children. I was adamant. Ultimately, I love my wife enough that I found enough room in my heart for another tiny human when she told me it felt like time to make one. Fatherhood is hands down the most challenging thing I've ever tackled. Nothing has required even close to this level of consistency, mindfulness, attentiveness and care. It's also beyond comparison the most rewarding thing I've ever experienced. Every day, for 12 years now, I've been discovering new reasons to be amazed by this tiny human who can frustrate me so much, so often.

Best thing that ever happened to me. Big positive for me is how much it forces you to absolutely economize your time and energy. Working on anything you feel less than 100% sure about becomes nonstarter— the gnawing feeling knowing that should be time spent with my kid is a constant gut check
