when trying to code and handle a new complex project from scratch i keep bumping onto the context window problem, even though i try to decompose tasks and switch to new dialogues

have you encountered such an issue?

i’m now thinking of trying this:
1) use Claude’s projects feature to create a project db + have a CTO-like “architectural” chat
2) use Cursor’s compose feature for performing small tasks (one composer per each tasks)

do you know about the .cursorrules file? It really really helped Cursor get a handle on what I was doing.

Start agentic for the scaffolding and then start to drill down file by file and make changes more surgically. It does struggle after a certain point and I become increasingly more architecty as the project goes on.

Yes! Create a good PRD document and place it in some folder like /docs 
and ask cursor to refer to it before doing anything.

The PRD should contain the plan, architecture, file structure, etc. 

Works really well for me.
