pro-tips (without giving away too much sauce)

-pick mage (for some reason in EVERY RPG game  ever made the devs make the mage/wizards OP (see @horsefacts.eth)
-focus on leveling up only a few skills instead of a combination of random ones (for example: chain lightening + speed)
-there are waves of enemies but they stop spawning when bosses appear (take advantage of this and collect your crystals)
-each boss has strengths and weaknesses (play these to your advantage in wave timings
