Putting @0xstark.eth idea of hardness together with my sense of why some of the SoP apps read a bit weak to me I had this realization. Often in attempting to improve a protocol people add legible structure and subtract hardness when they should be doing the exact opposite. This is a better version of stakes/skin in the game.

Not sure I understand what you mean by legible structure. Is it the opposite of hardness? Or something orthogonal? When we add hardness, do we have to subtract legible structure? Why not both?

We've been thinking about this all morning. Our current understanding is that, when trying to communicate something complex, most people tend to dumb-it-down (legible structure) and in doing so lose precision (hardness). But perhaps this indicates they don't truly understand it or they want to keep others in darkness.
