Investigators found that Joseph Strange, who worked as an audio engineer, had access to confidential studio materials. Between October 2019 and January 2020, he copied unreleased Eminem tracks and sold them to a buyer known as “Doja Rat” for $50,000 in Bitcoin. Authorities believe Strange’s use of cryptocurrency in the illicit transaction was an attempt to cover up his crime.
During the FBI operation that took place on January 28, 2025, Strange's hard drives were seized with more than 12,000 audio files, including unique recordings of Eminem and his collaborations with other artists. Handwritten lyrics, VHS tapes and personal notes from the rapper, stored in a safe, were also found. Strange could face up to 10 years in prison for the charges against him.
Earlier, the Fox media conglomerate, in collaboration with Polygon Labs, announced the launch of the Verify blockchain platform for tracking and authenticating media content owned by the corporation on the Internet. 0 reply
