If we have Network Economies that reward projects for their impact on the network, & distribute funding based on everyone’s relative contribution to the project (incl. rewards to existing resources used), what we're dealing with here is a new economic paradigm. Imagine a group of devs building an open source app for the network. Each dev gets paid based on their relative contribution, & the devs of dependencies get their share based on the importance of the dependency to the project. Other devs can then permissionlessly build on top of the code – getting rewarded by the network, and original devs getting rewarded as well. You're essentially creating an incentive structure where no one needs to worry about IP or keeping proprietary code anymore. Everyone just needs to focus on developing things that would benefit the network the most, and collaborating with others in the open to maximize the impact; this is true for open source software, but also for science, medicine, and all other public goods
