I really want to build something of my own but struggle settling on an idea or finding one I truly resonate with (that someone else hasn’t already made a ton of headway on). Unsure if it’s a leap of faith issue, or too big expectations for the first thing I build 🤔

Been in that state for a while, as a fellow designer you’re great at helping people build their products, you pair well with domain experts but you’re not a domain expert yourself in the same sense. One thing that helped me is getting into building anything interesting, it leads down a path from there.

Argh yes exactly! “I am good at building things for other people, why wouldn’t I build something for myself then?” Do you build whatever interests you even if it’s in a super saturated market and isn’t a “new” idea?

Yeah totally, we have great problem sniffing and solving but the missing context is domain experience, so I’d start with a domain you like and solve a problem there you’ll end up with a bunch of 2nd or 3rd layer problems you can fix that are not crowded and if you like the domain you’ll be fired up!
