I can rarely make sense of those questions. Recently I came across a framing that made so much more sense to me. Anything imposed on us by the environment is called affect. Affect is neutral. It's a fact that just happens. We're conditioned to give it meaning. You can choose that meaning and overcome your conditioning.

Aha so do you think that is the case for all feelings? I agree only to some extent. Don't you think e.g. pleasure / pain are pretty much innate instead of conditioned?
