+against i think esports as a whole is a net negative for society, infantilizes adults, distracts from real issues. we need more kids romanticizing civil engineering than playing video games. the world needs more beauty, don’t think esports facilitates that. certainly a minority opinion

agree with most of this. I think people are free to enjoy hobbies but agree that esports and video games generally are not the most productive use of time / have seen people essentially lose their lives to video game addictions (dropping legitimately all other responsibilities to game 24/7)

it's not that different from sports imo, more people are choosing gaming as their primary form of entertainment than ever before. whether that's good or bad is subjective forsure.
