You've been working on DEX stuff for close to a decade now. What has been the most surprising development in DEX in the last 5 years?

What has been most surprising is the continued dominance of DEX models that leak $100Ms of MEV from retail users, despite broad understanding / visibility into the issue and the existence of alternatives.

For long tail tokens, CFMMs (Uniswap v2) are great for spinning up a liquid market and letting price discovery do its thing.

For bluechip tokens, AMMs with concentrated liquidity (Uniswap v3) can offer deep liquidity and quote competitive prices, so they win a lot of DEX aggregator orderflow.

Orderflow sent through either of these types of AMMs can be vulnerable to frontrunning and poor trade execution.
