Someone should've explained it to me like: A smart contract is a decentralized aws lambda function but you deploy only once.

pretty much. but also if there are any bugs they are now deployed forever and anyone can attempt to hack it whenever they want. it's fun!

and no state cannot ever shut it down and it’s also a way to store money (smart contracts can handle tokens etc) code is law
