in turn, i did a little digging and here's the reality: 

1.) 2024 U.S. income tax revenue was about $2.6 trillion.

2.) tariffs (at current rates) brought in roughly $80-100 billion. 

3.) which means, even with aggressive tariffs, like a 10% universal import tax or 60% on Chinese goods, estimates suggest they’d yield around $170-200 billion yearly at most.
