lol "flexing my unemployment status" love it, and very relate. I decided to go permanently self-employed after a few startups, which has been forever weird explaining to people (both in startup land and in non-tech land)

i wonder if its easier in sf in london people treat you like an outcast if you dont have a stable job (or at least a generationally wealthy family)

Probably worse, everyone is extremely "raise a VC round for your startup" or you're wasting your life. Very aggressive growth mentality. I've found most alignment with creators (artists, authors, actors, etc), especially since a part of my lifestyle is "one for them, one for me" approach.

You might like the "sustainable SaaS" community though, ever go to a MicroConf or such?

It's not really SF-centric, it's a conference for small/indie self-funded teams, generally people who care about sustainable growth and life/work balance. US one is in Atlanta next, and there's an EU one too (my partner works for their accelerator fund, TinySeed): https://microconf.com/europe
