announcement time: super is joining warpcast

we are joining forces with @dwr.eth and @v to build farcaster into the most important social network on the planet, together

farcaster has never been stronger and i’m grateful for everyone who helped us get here

below is the story and what is happening next

first, i’m joining warpcast to work on user growth

my new job is simple:

if dau grows → good, if not → my fault

we are betting on crypto to be the new form of content and what will turn farcaster into the most entertaining place on the internet

we are taking everything special about farcaster today - apps, tokens, frames, communities - and we are turning them into the most viral and fun experiences possible

what will happen with super?

unfortunately, this means that we will stop the active development — my focus will remain on growing farcaster, but with warpcast

i know many people rely on super in their everyday life and i will do my best to build a smooth transition

so:
- super stays live for at least the next 3 months
- all active memberships will be refunded
- after that, we'll likely open source it and pass the torch to a new maintainer

i’m also beyond grateful for @0xmelanin, @samuellhuber.eth and @natedev.eth who provided an invaluable help for the past 2 months

i feel very bad that we will not get to release the mobile app and the super wallet together

you all made super possible and i will remember this forever

how did we get here?

over a year ago i took a life-sized bet on farcaster and went all-in on super

back then, it was called supercast and it started as a client for farcaster power users

we became the go-to app for scheduled posts, threads, and multi-account management

but we found the most success somewhere else — in the crypto native, fun features, like degen tipping, superanon or claiming airdrops

this is why in November, we decided to open up, launch a wallet, a mobile app, and go all in on growth and consumer social features

After:

- Getting to 13 paying customers
- 100 beta users
- 149 mentions on farcaster
- 6 weeks of grinding

I'm excited to announce that @super is live and open for everybody!

when i started super, farcaster was tiny

going full time on a self funded business, fully dependent on an unproven, small protocol was truly contrarian

but it felt right, i was excited about the tech, the vision, and exceptional early users i could onboard by being farcaster native

fast forward a year — farcaster is approaching 1m signups with 50k daily active users

(even more counting the readers)

super grew into the #2 farcaster client, hitting $200k revenue from 8k paying users

we had just unlocked free access, with our mobile app and wallet ready to ship

next challenge: raising the seed round

my main motivation to do all of this? making farcaster globally relevant

i believe farcaster is the most important thing happening in crypto right now — and maybe third overall, after space travel and agi

i personally really don’t care about another rollup, another L1, or another crypto infra layer

i want to build things that my friends want and need, and farcaster is both

it’s a social app that makes it easy to build rewards systems, new tokens or apps that exist straight in the feed.

but it's also something bigger — an uncensorable, truly open social network enabling real free speech, genuine diversity of views, and a flourishing ecosystem of apps and algorithms

seriously, if you are working in crypto and going through an identity crisis right now, come work on farcaster — we have a lot of hard challenges to solve but it will be worth it

so, when @v reached out and suggested i should join warpcast instead of raising the seed round, i asked one question:

“will joining warpcast increase our chances of making farcaster globally relevant vs building super on my own?”

then we both concluded that the answer is “yes” and the deal was done

alongside yesterday's Coinbase announcement, i could not imagine a better position for the whole ecosystem to win
