Hmm. I must've enabled allow popups for "the Google" many yrs ago 'cause I've never been bitten by the "popup blocked" in that scenario 
I'll have to check because PayPal also would suffer from this.

My brother in Christ, sign in with Apple/Google run on popups and are extremely highly used.
