Scientists have discovered a new species of toad in a rainforest in northeastern Brazil that is smaller than a knuckle. The length of this toad, Brachycephalus dacnis, reaches less than one centimeter in adulthood, which is even smaller than a nail or a coin. This toad belongs to the category of "Flea toads" and is considered one of the smallest known vertebrates. Researchers say that despite the fact that this species is among the smallest frogs in the world and is the second smallest species of amphibians, it has the typical skeletal characteristics of larger frogs.
