what do we think the effect would be if we paid politicians way way more

e.g. US president $1b salary for four years, senators $100m etc

I’m sympathetic to the idea that it could create more competitive races, but I think you’d quickly get diminishing returns after a much lower number

I think where higher salaries would make a bigger dent on candidate quantity and quality would be for local elected officials

Higher quality local officials would be a great start
