I like how Teddy Roosevelt wrote all these weird natural history monographs and biographies while also doing everything else he did

my favorite teddy ro story is how all the foreign governments had to rotate their diplomat corps because none of the distinguished old gentlemen could keep up with him (literally, one state meeting included all the diplomats stripping naked and swimming with him across the Hudson to NJ)

this edition was my grandmother’s and I remember as a kid being mesmerized by it

I read a biography about when he explored the Amazon, and what a nightmare that expedition went through. He also got shot at a rally, but the bullet got blocked by his flask and speech in top pocket.
